Where do you get your inspiration from? The materials I find are what drives me, but in patterns and shapes I am really inspired by architecture, the angles of buildings contrasted with nature.
Is this your full time job? Since the start of this year, yes!
Are you involved in any other crafty projects or organisations? [re]design an organisation promoting designers who don't want to make land fill, and an organisation called the eco design fair which hold three events a year promoting sustainable design in fashion, products, furniture, stationery etc..
Where can I find you in real life?
Every Sunday i can be found at the Sunday UpMarket at Truman brewery in London, making at the same time.
Any tips for someone who wants to start making their own stuff?
Don't give up, and seize every opertunity you can. You never know who will see your work and were it will lead.
What music do you listen to whilst you work? Sigur Ros, Kings of Convienence, Belle and Sebastian if its just a normal day. If I have a deadline something like Simian Mobile Disco or MSTRKRFT, i like electro.
What is the nicest comment you have ever received about your work? One lady said to me "each piece is like an individual art piece", that made me smile...
Any interesting customers? Yes on telling, Dr Tania Byron from 'The House of Tiny Tearaways' bought a brooch of mine and wore it on the Christmas eposide. Cool in a strange sort of way...
What is your favourite item that you have made? I made a bag from a chair. I used the frame of the seat and suspended the bag in it. I sanded away the top section to make handles. It was cool. The client said they were going put it on their walls when they weren't using it.
Can you recommend another designer? Linda Florence is a wallpaper designer, she is another fellow scot making interactive designs. She contrasts damasks with robots and paper with grit tape.
