Jemima Lumley

My newest collection of work is all about lovebirds, butterflies and lace. Finally my collection of vintage lace is being put to good use - after annealing the sheet or wire silver, I put it through the rolling mill with the vintage lace, and out comes something or nothing! With this I make all sorts of pieces of jewellery - cuffs, bangles, earrings, pendants, rings...whatever takes my fancy on that day.

My current work is influenced by Victorian mourning jewellery, Tord Boontje, the paper cuts of Rob Ryan and Hans Christian Andersen, and the nature in my tiny back garden in Bristol. Some of my more playful imagery draws on the almost twenty years of experience as an art director in children’s publishing, which I gave up three years ago to follow my dream. I didn’t know what the dream was then, but I think I found it!
