How to Sell

Hannah Zakari stocks items on both a wholesale and 'sale or return' basis and gives you the opportunity to sell your work alongside a well curated selection of some of the best indie designers and artists from around the world.

If you are an independent designer making or designing your own line of jewellery, accessories, art, bags, etc, and are interested in selling your items on Hannah Zakari on a sale or return basis, it's very easy to apply.

All you need to do is send an email containing the following information to enquiries@hannahzakari.co.uk

  • your name and location
  • your website address (if you have one)
  • a selection of detailed photographs of your pieces and descriptions of each piece (what they are made from, techniques used etc.)
  • the retail price of each item in £/GBP

Hannah Zakari currently takes 45% of the retail price of each item sold meaning that the designer receives 55%. There are no other costs involved in selling with us.

I rarely make a decision to stock a designer immediately, instead I prefer to go through applications received over a period of a month or so and make a shortlist. From that shortlist I will then contact the designers I feel are the best fit for Hannah Zakari. With this in mind, please be patient if you do not hear back quickly, I aim to go through applicants at least once a month but during busy times (typically August, November and December) it may take longer.

I receive more applications to sell on Hannah Zakari than I can possibly stock so please don't be offended if you're not accepted, I do try to reply to everyone and offer feedback if requested.

FAQ

What happens if my application is accepted?

The next step is to decide on a collection. This should be a minimum of 5 different items, however 10 - 20 items is preferred. I always leave the final decision on what to send down to the individual designer but I will let you know if there are any items in particular I feel would work best on Hannah Zakari. I will also send you instructions on how to prepare your work for sending in.

If upon receiving your items I consider them not to be of a suitable standard for sale on HZ I reserve the right to return them to you, and I will not sell any items which I deem to be offensive.

Can I drop ship?

We will only agree a 'drop ship' (where the designer ships items as they are sold) arrangement with long term and trusted designers in special circumstances (ie the item is made to order or personalised).

How do you pay?

Payments are made monthly either by bank transfer, cheque, or Paypal for UK consignors, and by PayPal only for consignors abroad. All payments are made in GBP(£).

What kind of items can you accept?

Hannah Zakari accepts a wide range of items for sale, we currently stock jewellery, stationery, homewares, and lots more and are open to stocking just about anything as long as it fits our indie criteria!

Do you accept consigners from abroad?

We prefer to work on a wholesale basis with designers from outside the EU, but we stock designers from anywhere in the world.

Can I send items which are one-of-a-kind?

This depends on the retail price of your item. Please get in touch if you want to find out if your price points for your OOAK items would be acceptable to us.

What if my things don't sell?

Fortunately most designers are successful on Hannah Zakari, however there are no guarantees. Consignments are reviewed every 3 months and unsold items may be returned to you after this period is up.

Its easy to be disheartened if this happens but you must keep in mind that the most likely reason is that it's just not the right time or place.

Can I use your photographs of my items?

Most of the photos on Hannah Zakari are taken by me and are the copyright of Hannah Zakari so please ask my permission before using them for any reason.

What can I expect from Hannah Zakari?

We take care of all photography, packaging, shipping and liase with customers should any problems arise. We store your items securely in our stockroom or display lovingly on our shopfloor and make sure we know about you and your company so we can pass the information on to our customers. We will keep you updated on sales at the end of each month and pay you on time.

Designers also get a 20% discount on purchases from Hannah Zakari.

How do I know I can trust you?

Hannah Zakari is a small website, and there are no forms to fill in or sign but if you need a reference I can put you in touch with one of my other consigners who can vouch for my trustworthiness.
