Where do you get your inspiration from? The traditional crafty way- BY HAND! I love Bruce Metcalf's work. He's amazing.
Is this your full time job? No. I do jewelry assembly for 2 other jewelry design companies and run Giant Jewels part-time from home after a long day of assembling other peoples work!
Are you involved in any other crafty projects or organisations? Nope, solo mafia. But most of my compadres are in the jewelry arts and arts in general- so I'm not alone!
Where can I find you in real life? Art Mart this summer in downtown Portland and lots of online boutiques.
Any tips for someone who wants to start making their own stuff? If you got it, flaunt it.
What music do you listen to whilst you work? I actually listen to Air America ALL day long (at my job & at home).
What is the nicest comment you have ever received about your work? That's a tough one- I guess I like the ones that come from artists best.
Any interesting customers? No, not yet, but I did sell a necklace and earrings set at an outdoor jewelry kiosk in L.A. to John Turtorro! That's when I was working for minimum wage - ouch!
What is your favourite item that you have made? The apples necklace, so far.
Can you recommend another designer? I like the whole vibe in Portland- seems like everyone is creative here!
Anything else I might be interested in? I do small scale sculpure and have been doing more 3-D artwork other than wearable pieces, which is fun.
