Design background: I have no formal training. I have been crafty my whole life and somehow I now have a business based off of it.
Where do you get your inspiration from? I am inspired very much by nature, animals and pop art.
Is this your full time job? It basically is my real job. I work 2 days a week at a Japanese toy store/gallery.
Where can I find you in real life? I do the crafty wonderland and Handmade Bazaars in Portland.
Any tips for someone who wants to start making their own stuff? Start it off as a hobby and then see where it takes you. Don't expect instant success, but you never know.
What music do you listen to whilst you work? Mainly indie rock or classic rock like : The Cure, Blonde Redhead, Menomena, The Thermals, Fleetwood Mac, Joanna Newsom, Television etc.
What is the nicest comment you have ever received about your work? That it is very inspirational.
Any interesting customers? I've had people use it in commercials but i've never seen it.
What is your favourite item that you have made? The sleepy little fox necklace.
Can you recommend another designer? I think Kyle from Button Arcade is terrific, Kim From Kissy Cake. Also Quentin from Monsieur T and Genevieve and Hazel from Denwave do amazing things.
Anything else I might be interested in? I play in a band called Wet Confetti. We just got back from touring with The Thermals. It was amazing!
